About this site
Duty & Pay is a small, independent set of calculators for Australian property and pay taxes. It exists because the official calculators are hard to use, and most of the easy ones are attached to a lender who wants your phone number first.
Where the numbers come from
Every rate on this site is taken from a primary source, not from another calculator:
- Stamp duty rates come from each state and territory revenue office.
- Income tax, Medicare levy and HECS-HELP rates come from the Australian Taxation Office.
Each page names its source, links to it, and shows the date the rate was last checked.
How often it is updated
Most Australian tax rules change on 1 July, and state budgets land in May and June. The whole site is reviewed every July, and again whenever a state announces a change mid-year. Rates were last checked on 28 July 2026.
What this site is not
It is not a licensed tax agent, financial adviser, mortgage broker or conveyancer. The calculators give estimates using published rates. They cannot see your personal circumstances, and a small detail in your situation can change the answer a lot. Before you commit money, confirm the figure with the relevant revenue office, the ATO, or a qualified professional.
Your privacy
The calculators run entirely in your browser. Salaries, property prices and loan balances are never sent to a server and are never stored. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
Corrections
If you find a rate that is wrong or out of date, please get in touch. Corrections are made quickly and the date on the page is updated.
